Our Partners

The City of Carlsbad funds our watershed and stormwater education to schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District. With their support, we have incorporated these presentations into many classroom’s yearly curricula. The City will also be funding a future composting program with both school and community education. The City of Encinitas is a vital supporter of our composting, gardening, and water protection programs in Encinitas. With their support, our Master Composters have teamed up with the students and garden volunteers at the following schools to support a successful school composting/gardening program: San Dieguito Academy, Capri Elementary, Park Dale Lane Elementary, Paul Ecke Central, Olivenhain Pioneer, and Ocean Knoll. With funding from the City of Encinitas, the Solana Center is providing free composting and zero-waste education to interested schools in the Encinitas Union School District. The City of Encinitas also supports the composting program and free composting workshops at the San Diego Botanic Garden (click for more information). To assist residents in purchasing a compost bin, the City of Encinitas offers a price subsidy for all Encinitas residents. Click here to see compost bin subsidy information.

In addition, the City of Encinitas and the Solana Center are working to provide water protection education to all Encinitas residents. Through our community booths and beach cleanups, we seek to instill an appreciation of our watershed and marine communities. With help from the City of Encinitas, the Solana Center has been able to offer free oil filters for any traded-in, used oil filters at the following sites in Encinitas: Pep Boys, Autozone, and O’Reilly Autoparts (on a certain date and time). The City of San Diego has partnered with the Solana Center to provide composting education to residents of the City of San Diego. Through our partnership, we have been able to provide free composting workshops and presentations to local groups, schools, and the general public. With their support, our Master Composters have teamed up with the students and garden volunteers at the following schools to support a successful school composting/gardening program: Albert Einstein Academy, Curie Elementary, Toler Elementary, Silver Gate Elementary, and Tierrasanta Elementary. The City of San Diego also supports the composting program and free composting workshops at the San Diego Zoo and Ridgehaven (click for more information).

The County of San Diego is a proud supporter of the Solana Center’s composting education in the unincorporated County. With their help, we have been able to provide free composting education throughout the unincorporated regions of San Diego County. The County of San Diego also supports the composting program and free composting workshops at the Water Conservation Garden, Deerpark Monastery, and Crestridge Ecological Reserve (click for more information).
